STRIP
My sister loves to say “you have to get naked before God”.
The first time she said that, I was a bit confused. Why would I have to take my
clothes off in order to be with God? That seemed like the last thing I wanted
to do. But she explained, she didn’t mean to disrobe but to come to God as real
as you possibly can. This is contrary to how we deal with people.
We are accustomed to putting our best foot forward and
sending our representatives to function in the world on a daily basis. We are
who other people expect us to be instead of being who we truly are. That is the
way of the world. You cover your faults, pretend to be perfect, and keep a
smile on your face.
That’s not how God works!
Whatever is revealed, God can heal. He wants you to bare it
all in front of Him. You can’t go to the doctor and tell him nothing is wrong
but you want the medicine. How will he know what to prescribe if you refuse to
tell him your symptoms and where it hurts? The easy answer is that he won’t.
God is all-knowing but there is so much power in admitting where you are
struggling.
I don’t mean the superficial things but those things that
are deep down and buried within your spirit. God can keep a secret; you can
trust Him with your innermost parts. Why? Because He already knows. He created
you and He has always had His eye on you. So, you might ask “Why do I need to
tell Him if He knows everything?” Because it does no good for someone else to
know what’s wrong if you cannot admit that it’s wrong in your life.
If you won’t expose it, there is nothing God can do about
it. If you truly want to be a better person and want God to change things, you
have to hand it over to Him. The only way the pain and struggle can change
hands is by you giving permission to God to come and take it away. The fire
department or police department don’t know that you have an emergency until you
call them and make them aware.
By stripping away all the layers of façade and reputation,
you can get to the root of what is causing you to struggle. You may have an
issue with wanting to control everything but until you get bare before God
about what is causing it, He can’t heal it. Or you may have a problem with
promiscuity; God wants to take that pain and pressure away from you. He is
waiting for you to admit what the cause of it is so that He can remove the
burden from your hands.
Help is waiting for you but you have to open the door. God
is a gentleman and will never force His will on you; He has to be invited into
your life. An uninvited guest is one of the most annoying things in the world.
You can trust Him with your heart because He waits until you call upon Him.
Real change happens when you bare your soul in the presence
of God. You can pour your heart to Him because He cares for you. So, there is
only one thing left to do:
With All My Love,
Mrs. Truscott
Love the post! We do have to strip in front of God everday. Just like we take off our clothes every night, we must take off all that isn't of God. Many women are ashamed to be naked in front of their husbands, but we never have to be ashamed in front of our God who is our heavenly husband. He sees all our imperfections and still finds us beautiful through Jesus Christ.
ReplyDeleteHow great He is
