Happy New Year
The New Year brings new things. The New Year is an
opportunity to start fresh. Leave the bad in the previous year and embrace the
newness of things in the New Year. We make New Year’s resolutions and vow to do
things different. There’s the promise to lose weight, stop smoking, attend
church more, and even manage our finances better. But none of these things will
mean anything if we leave God out of the equation.
Isaiah 43:19 For I am about to do something new. See, I have
already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. (NLT)
When God does something new, He doesn’t need a date on the
calendar to do so. All He needs is a willing heart and open eyes. If you don’t
see that God is doing a new thing, January 1 will not change anything in your
life. We’re making resolutions without seeing what God is doing. If you aren’t
willing to let God move, your year will be far from new.
We can’t be new without the existence of God in our lives.
The way we live our lives is what determines how “new” our year truly is. How
many times are we going to make resolutions without changing who guides our
decisions? You don’t have to change gyms, eating habits, and spending habits if
you shift your focus to see the new thing that God is doing. We put the focus
on the wrong things instead on looking to the “One” thing.
You don’t need a resolution when you serve the King of Kings;
you just need an encounter with Him. One touch from God initiates the beginning
of a new thing. Don’t you see? He has already begun. He is making a pathway
through the wilderness and creating rivers in the dry wasteland. When you truly
experience God, a resolution serves new purpose. You need Him to do a new thing
in you and everything else will follow.
We’re trying to take action without the Creator and
wondering why our resolutions continue to fail. Let your New Year be about the
new thing that God is doing, He can do anything but fail.
Happy New Year, Happy New Thing!
With All My Love,
Mrs. Truscott
