My Story is Your Story

People are different; that’s a fact. We all grew up in different neighbors, different families, and had different life experiences. All these things create very unique individuals that are going through this thing called life.

But, are we really as different as we think?

When I decided to finally answer the call that God had placed on my life I began to meet so many different people from all walks of life. The more conversations I had, the more I realized that we had so many things in common. Some were rich, some poor, some white, some black, Christian and non-Christian and everyone in between.

Hurt, pain, and disappointment can bond people in ways like no other.

The brokenness that life can cause does not miss anyone. Just because you are wealthy does not mean you will never experience pain. Loss and bitterness do not pass over your house because of your nationality. Your enjoyment of life is not connected to the “things” you have but to WHO has you. This is why we see millionaires that take their own life. They experience the same hurt and loneliness that poor people do.

We have to be sure to provide encouragement to those we know that are enduring struggle and even those that may not let their pain be known. Because we can relate, we have all felt hopeless and abandoned. We have become frustrated with the chaos that life can present. But God has so intricately connected each of us to the other so that we can empathize from the place of our own personal battles. Our stories are the same while also being different.

What connects us to each other even more than our sorrows is the Great Comforter. God has come to give us life more abundantly (John 10:10) instead of living in the defeat of our yesterdays. The commonality that we all share is that we have been redeemed and rescued from the pain of our sorrows.

Let our stories be of victory and not despair. We are part of a royal priesthood and heirs to the throne of a King. What we share is familiar because we are family. Our differences make us unique but our similarities are what draw is to one another.

With All My Love,
Mrs. Truscott
